This is an old specimen, labelled as “Massicot” from the Comet Mine, Dundas, Tasmania. According to the Catalogue (GSB 73), none of the reported occurrences of Massicot in Tasmania have been verified and it’s status is considered doubtful. XRD analysis of specimens from Dundas in the Petterd collection at TMAG, found Bindheimite, Sulphur, Arsenolite and other minerals. Two other specimens from Adelaide Mine were also found to be Bindheimite. So…it’s probably Bindheimite. [UPDATE] Tested by MRT and found to be a mixture of calcium Bindheimite and Anglesite.
